Last call for nominations for Pierre de Coubertin Awards

19 May 2011

The Queensland Olympic Council has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2011 Pierre de Coubertin Awards.

The awards are the flagship Olympic Education program run by the Australian Olympic Committee  and aim to recognise Queensland secondary students who demonstrate initiative, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play though participation in a variety of sports in the competitive arena.

The awards are open to all secondary schools in Queensland with the nomination deadline now extended to May 27.

Nominations packs are available from the Queensland Olympic Council website or call the council for further information on 07 3349 4626.

The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday June 25 in Brisbane and feature guest Olympians.

The Pierre de Coubertin Awards strongly support physical education and sport in schools and promote commitment to positive values. They aim to recognise good sportsmanship and not just elite performance.
