$1000 scholarships for future leader teachers
March 07 2012
Deputy and assistant principals have recently experienced a fresh approach to leadership development in the highly acclaimed Emerging Principals Program.
Now it's the teachers' turn as Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELi) continues to roll out its full suite of educational leadership programs in 2012 for aspiring through to executive leaders.
QELi's Future Leaders Program commences on 3 April 2012 and promises to be an innovative, dynamic, relevant program focusing on moving proficient teachers with five-plus years' experience into formal leadership positions.
A $1000 scholarship toward the program cost is on offer for 30 teachers who register and meet the application criteria. Registrations close on 12 March.
QELi chief executive officer Dr Stephen Brown has more than 30 years' education experience in Queensland and Victoria.
'Future Leaders is a career-changing program that empowers teachers to become highly effective and influential leaders in the foreseeable future,' Dr Brown said.
'It is an interactive, seven-phase program that will transform the best teachers into the best leaders.
'For school leaders, one of the main challenges is ensuring that staff are ready to meet the demands of emerging educational contexts. QELi's Future Leaders Program responds directly to the growing challenge of succession planning across all schools and sectors.'
The Future Leaders Program is for proficient teachers with five-plus years' experience who are starting to think about moving into a formal leadership position.
