Agribusiness Gateway School students have gathered at Dalby State High School's Bunya Campus boarding facility for an educational farmstay camp.

Some 40 students from Stanthorpe, St George and Dalby State High Schools attended what it is hoped could be become an annual event, with most staying on campus.

The camp was designed to show off the diverse nature of agriculture on the Darling Downs and give students career inspiration to enter the agricultural industry.

Visits to local feedlots, piggeries, cotton gins, watermelon farms, stud cattle farms, cattle saleyards and grain exporters were all on the agenda.

Livestock presentations, career talks and lectures also provided students with an appreciation of the possibilities in agriculture and agribusiness-related fields.

Hands-on activities included a sheep dissection, horse handling and riding and identifying weeds and pastures with experts out in the field.

Dalby State High's Bunya Campus is south east Queensland's only state school providing student boarding facilities. For more information visit the school website, call (07) 4660 0333 or email resenquiries@dalbyshs.eq.edu.au.
