One finalist from each Education Queensland region will be chosen to compete in the state final. The state finalists will make their sandwich at the Smart Choices masterclass being held at the Royal International Convention Centre, Bowen Hills, in Brisbane on 21 October.

Regional winners will have their travel and accommodation funded if required to attend the Smart Choices masterclass.

To enter, the sandwich recipe and one photograph should be emailed to The email should include entrant's name, school, education region if known and contact details.

Eligible sandwiches may be made up of any form of bread with a filling, assembled cold. This may include traditional wedge sandwiches, filled rolls and wraps. It does not include burgers, toasted sandwiches or fillings assembled and consumed hot.

The winner of the state final will receive a trophy and $250 for the purchase of kitchen appliances for their school tuckshop.
