SMART CLASSROOMS: Online resources for early phase teachers
With the end of the school year almost here, teachers are being reminded about the value of the Electronic Teaching Collection (eTc) when planning for 2010.
Accessible via the Learning Place Curriculum Exchange, eTc contains a valuable range of materials to assist teaching and learning for Years 1 to 3.
Materials for Year 4 will be uploaded progressively from next month.
Project manager Carolyn Robinson said eTc offered teachers ideas, strategies, plans, assessment and resources for English and mathematics.
'Literally hundreds of resources are available to support detailed teaching and learning sequences,' Mrs Robinson said.
'The resources sit within the context of those sequences and are designed to support student learning in the most powerful and appropriate way.'
Built on the foundation of Essential Learnings and the QCAR Framework, eTc includes interactive learning objects, online tools, slideshows, songs, videos and activity sheets.
Kurwongbah State School teacher Belinda Butler said eTc, in particular the Year 1 mathematics program, was a wonderful teaching resource.
'My students really have enjoyed the range of learning experiences that each unit provided,' Ms Butler said.
'The planning and lessons are easy to follow and fit perfectly with our school program.'For more information or to access eTc, visit the Learning Place Curriculum Exchange resource centre and search for eTc.
