SMART CLASSROOMS: Experiences at school win big for children

02 February 2009

Tech leaders ... pupils at Hermit Park State School.

Great stories and imagination, together with outstanding digital media skills, have proven winners for two Queensland schools.

Nerang State School and Bentley Park College triumphed in Education Queensland's Library Services inaugural Tell it digitally storytelling competition.

Open to all Year 5-9 state school students, the creative project attracted dozens of amazing entries from across the state with students asked to create a showcase reflecting any aspect of their school - past or present.

Winner of the Years 5-7 category, Nerang State School, developed a moving account reflecting a family's longstanding connection with both the school and the community.

Year 8-9 winner Bentley Park College, on the other hand, used the school's drumming program to create a fun and inspirational picture demonstrating whole-school and community engagement.

To view the winning creations as well as entries prepared by other schools, log on to the Learning Place project room.
