SMART CLASSROOMS: Reset your password without contacting the Service Centre

If you work in a Queensland state school you can register for the Self Service Password Reset Utility and you won't need to contact the Service Centre to reset your network login password.
Available to corporate staff later this year, the utility is a quick, easy-to-use online tool that resets your password, using your employee number and your answers to a series of questions.
As more staff use the utility, the Service Centre will become more available to schools for other types of requests.
In October and November 2009, the Service Centre received 43,000 phone calls for assistance. Ten thousand (or 23 per cent) were for password resets. This jumped to 70 per cent at the start of Term 1 2009.
Step 1: Register online
You need to register for the utility before you can use it. Registration involves you answering a series of questions.
To register, log into a work computer, open OnePortal and click on the My Site link (find it on the top right of the webpage).
Then, click on the Password Reset tab (located on the menu bar near the top left of the webpage).
Select the Self Service Password Reset link, then click on Register My Personal Questions and Answers. Follow the prompts.
You need your employee number to register.
Step 2: Resetting your password online
Once your have registered for the utility, you can start using it.
If you have forgotten your network login password, you won't be able to log into your computer.
Instead, go to a work colleague's computer.
Open OnePortal and click on the My Site link (find it on the top right of the webpage).
Then, click on the Password Reset tab (located on menu bar near the top left of the webpage).
Select the Self Service Password Reset link, then click on Reset My Password. Follow the prompts.
You need your user name and employee number to use the utility.
