There's a new focus on the middle years of schooling, generally from Years 4 —9. TTN children's TV host Amelia Charlton interviews middle years expert Mary Lincoln.
Most schools are focusing on the middle years of schooling to smooth the transition from Years 7 to 8, provide academically challenging educational programs that meet students' needs and interests, connect students with the world beyond the classroom and inspire young people to keep learning.
The reforms aim to ensure each child reaches his or her full potential.
This is the most common time students can lose enthusiasm for learning, and make the least progress in learning.
Gradually increase children's level of responsibility at home and encourage them to develop good organisational skills and to become more self-reliant.
TTN, a weekly television program aimed at students in the middle years of learning , airs each Tuesday 11.10 am on TEN. Mary Lincoln is a Principal Education Officer, Department of Education and the Arts
