Science education in Queensland received a $14 million injection over 2003-2006 under a State Government push to increase the numbers of school students studying science and to attract and retain skilled science teachers.
The plan recognised that skilled teachers are the ones who will ultimately bring about positive changes in science education. Each new initiative was designed to manoeuvre Queensland to the forefront of the knowledge economy and underpin the creation of a skilled and dynamic workforce.
The Spotlight on Science is one of several major initiatives flagged by the State Government's Investing in Science: Research, Education and Innovation
report.
