Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting (QCAR) Framework

The Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting (QCAR) Framework informs the learning programs for all state school students in Years 1 to 9.

The framework, developed by the Queensland Studies Authority, comprises five inter-related components:

Essential learnings, which identify what should be taught and what is important for students to know, understand and be able to do
Standards, which give a common frame of reference and a shared language to describe student achievement
Assessment bank , an online collection of assessment packages and resources
Queensland Comparable Assessment Tasks (QCATs), which are performance-based assessment tasks in English, mathematics and science for students in Years 4, 6 and 9
Guidelines for reporting .

The framework promotes increased consistency across classrooms and continuity across year levels in what is taught and how it is assessed and reported in Queensland schools - a significant step forward for the students and teachers who change schools each year.
