Education Queensland (EQ) and the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) acknowledge that the work of teachers implementing the Australian Curriculum involves significant continuing professional development (CPD) to meet their responsibilities as a member of a team and school staff. Teachers implementing the Australian Curriculum undertake activities that develop professional knowledge, skills and values, consistent with the National Professional Standards for Teachers.
EQ and QCT agree that continuing professional development activities, beyond the normal expectations of the teacher's role or engagement in extra-curricular activities, qualify as contributing to a teacher's total annual CPD.
Only the professional development component of an activity may be included to meet the requirements. Core activities all teachers are expected and required to do to plan, prepare, deliver, assess and report on the curriculum with their students are not suitable for inclusion.
