Woombye State School recognises as its prime obligation, the provision of access to an appropriate educational service for students whose principal place of residence is within the school's catchment area.
Because of enrolment capacity and growth, Woombye State School may be unable to meet this obligation in the future, unless action is taken now to manage enrolments.
This Enrolment Management Plan sets out the conditions under which students may be enrolled into Woombye State School.
The school currently has the capacity to enrol up to 521 students in 23 classrooms.
A school's local catchment area means the geographical area from which the school is to have its principal intake of students. A catchment boundary for a school is defined by the equal distance between schools. This is measured from the main entrance of a school and its neighbouring schools, by road. The attached map defines the area for which Woombye State School is the closest school by vehicular trafficable route. Any changes to the local catchment area will be notified through the registration and gazettal of an amended Enrolment Management Plan, including the operative date for the new catchment area.
All students, whose principal place of residence is within the school's catchment area, are eligible for enrolment at the school. The Principal will hold places for students who relocate to within the catchment area throughout the school year.
Enrolment of students from outside the local catchment area will be managed to ensure that the total current and forecast enrolments do not exceed the school's current capacity and, where applicable, will ensure there is an even spread of students across year levels or class groupings.
Parents who wish to enrol their child/ren at Woombye State School will need to demonstrate that the prospective student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area. Current proof of residency at the address indicated can be provided by way of one each of the following:
If unable to provide this proof of residence, a Statutory Declaration confirming that an officer authorised to endorse statutory declarations has sighted sufficient evidence that in their opinion the student is a resident within the catchment area, must be provided.
Subject to the above capacity conditions, all enrolment applications from outside of the catchment area will be assessed against the following criteria in order of priority:
Applications for enrolment will be accepted each year from the beginning of Term 1 for enrolment to commence from the beginning of Term 1 in the following year.
Applications will be recorded in order of receipt.
Applications will remain current only for the year of submission.
A committee, comprising the Principal (or nominee), the chair or a member of the P&C Association and a staff member of the school, will review all the enrolment applications received for the following school year.
The committee will provide advice to the Principal on the enrolment applications.
The Principal is responsible for all decision on enrolments.
Parents will be notified in writing of the outcome of the enrolment assessment. Parents may seek clarification from the principal in regards to an unsuccessful enrolment application.
Parents have the right to appeal an unsuccessful enrolment application to the Regional Office in writing, providing evidence to substantiate their claim that the criteria have not been applied fairly and equitably. The appeal finding by the Regional Director will be final.
The Woombye State School Enrolment Management Plan is operational from date of gazettal.
