The Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre (JWEEC) is situated in the southern Moreton Bay region, just north of the Gold Coast.
Jacobs Well EEC has close access to the tidal and marine waters and islands of southern Moreton Bay including South Stradbroke Island. Other local natural environments used as study sites include eucalypt forests, mangroves and salt marshes, local waterways and freshwater ponds.
Jacobs Well EEC offers programs across all education sectors from P -12, Tertiary, Special Needs and some Vocational Education. All P-12 programs are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and cover a wide range of topics and themes. Programs can be personalised and designed to meet the needs of the participants.
JWEEC offers day visits, extended camps or specialised offsite programs. The types of activities conducted during the visit are developed by centre teachers in consultation with the visiting teacher's current curriculum focus. Program resource materials are available to support classroom teaching strategies pre-and post-visit.
JWEEC is a comfortable all-weather facility with cabin accommodation for 40 students, teachers and supporting adults, a kitchen and eating room (with catering available if required), 2 classrooms, modern amenities and learn-scaped grounds.
To support programs, JWEEC has a 12 m aluminium catamaran, outfitted as a floating classroom, 2 smaller vessels, canoes, mini-bus, centre vehicle and a plant nursery.
