Where is the Maroon Outdoor Education Centre?
We are a unique Education Queensland school on the shores of Maroon Dam in the foothills of the Scenic Rim with a permanent staff of registered teachers and skilled ancillary officers. The centre is located south-west of Brisbane near the township of Boonah.
Our services and facilities have been growing since our inception in 1975. For over 25 years we have been providing teachers and students throughout Queensland with unique learning opportunities in outdoor and adventurous settings. Our strength is our commitment to providing every individual with a memorable and valuable learning experience.
What does the Maroon Outdoor Education Centre provide?
The staff at MOEC possess a wide range of abilities and expertise in outdoor education and its applications to the school curriculum and professional development programs.
Our services are available to students and staff from primary, secondary and special education campuses, as well as other Education Queensland personnel. Tertiary education and community groups may also access the centre. Our cabins allow clients to remain on site throughout their visit.
We can provide programs that assist in preparing students for their future at school, at home or at work. Critical thinking, problem-solving and skills related to lifelong learning are integrated into each program.
Our local community assists us by providing access to private land and an insight into rural life. Nearby National parks, state forests and reserves are also close by. These areas, together with the centre's facilities, form our outdoor classroom.
