Funds for education services for students with special needs

Funding is allocated for the purchase of education services from approved non-government organisations for students with special needs (e.g. Autism Association, Queensland Bush Children's Association).

Purpose

This grant assists approved non-state organisations to provide education services for students with special needs.

Expenditure guidelines

The services required are determined by the Minister for Education, Training and Employment in consultation with officers of the department. Services are purchased under a service agreement which requires the provision of an audited Financial Accountability Certificate and annual educational accountability report.

Duration of program

Service agreements usually operate for periods of 3 years but can be varied at any time by either party subject to the provisions of the agreement.

Eligibility

Eligibility of organisations for funding is based on government service needs established through strategic planning processes. Service agreements and the services provided are reviewed prior to any agreement renewal.

Allocation of funds

Payments are made in two instalments which are 50% of annual entitlements in accordance with individual service agreements. Annual entitlements can be enhanced subject to budget appropriation and agreement provisions.
