Living Away from Home Allowances Scheme (LAFHAS)

Students in Queensland's rural and remote communities deserve the very best educational opportunities we can provide.

The Department of Education and Training recognises the need to assist parents of children who, because of the geographic isolation of their homes, find it necessary to board away from home to attend school on a daily basis. The Living Away from Home Allowance Scheme (LAFHAS) provides financial assistance to eligible Queensland families to assist with costs associated with educating students from rural and remote locations.
