School-based Itinerant Staff Operational Grant

Purpose

This grant assists schools to meet the annual operational costs associated with school-based itinerant staff.

Expenditure guidelines

Operational costs include telephone, photocopying, postage, access to technology, administrative assistance, utilities and professional development and training.

Eligibility

School Centre Types

State High School, Campus, State Special School, State School and Community School

Associated Units

Special Education Unit, Special Education Developmental Centre, Special Education Developmental Unit
School centre types and associated units listed above with staff based at the centre who meet the following criteria:

The official category of staff of all employees eligible for the grant includes advisory visiting teachers, guidance officers, senior guidance officers, specialist support staff (e.g. speech language pathologists, learning support teacher, communication teacher, integration teacher, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, psychologist, nurse), Behaviour Management staff, instrumental music teachers, LOTE and ESL teachers.

Reading Recovery teachers are not included in this list.

Schools should contact the Principal Human Resource Consultant in their Regional Office for confirmation of itinerant staff numbers prior to grant payments in April and October. It is currently the responsibility of Regional Human Resource Consultants to report each itinerant staff member on the Specialist Support Staff collection spreadsheet.

Current Rate x number of school-based itinerant staff in excess of 5

For example, a school with 7 itinerant staff would receive:
(Current Rate x 7) + (Current Rate x 2)
