Learn-to-swim travel assistance

Travel assistance is paid where schools do not own a pool and are more than 1.0 km from the nearest pool. The amount of assistance is based on an assumed 10 return trips per year at defined kilometric rates and provides for bus driver waiting time, where:

Kilometric rate 1 applies if funded enrolment < 25
Kilometric rate 2 applies if funded enrolment > = 25
Number of buses equals funded enrolment divided by 50
Total bus waiting time equals number of buses multiplied by waiting time rate.

Learn-to-swim admission assistance

Admission assistance is paid where schools do not own a pool. The level of assistance is set at a pool admission rate per student per visit based on the assumption that there are 10 visits per year.

Primary schools

Primary schools without own pool and 1.0 km or less from nearest pool:

Travel assistance = 0
Admission assistance = 2/7 x enrolment x pool admission rate x 10.

Primary schools without own pool and more than 1.0 km from nearest pool:

Enrolments fewer than 25
Travel assistance = waiting time + (km rate 1 x distance to pool x 2 x 10)
Admission assistance = 2/7 x enrolment x pool admission rate x 10

Enrolments greater than or equal to 25
Travel assistance = number of buses x [waiting time rate + (km rate 2 x distance to pool x 2 x 10)]
Admission assistance = 2/7 x enrolment x pool admission rate x 10

Special schools

State special schools without own pool and 1.0 km or less from nearest pool:

Travel Assistance = 0
Admission Assistance = Enrolment Pool admission rate 10.

State Special Schools without own pool and more than 1.0 km from nearest pool:
