Regional Parliament Sitting Subsidies Scheme

Regional sitting of Queensland Parliament
May 24-26, 2011
Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre

Purpose

To assist with the cost of students attending regional sittings of parliament

Expenditure guidelines

Funds are to be used for costs associated with attendance including travel and accommodation.

No specific acquittal process is required for these funds; however, schools are to report back to Central Office the number of students that participated in the program.

Duration of program

The program is offered in the years that Parliament sits regionally. To date the program has run in 2002, 2005 and 2008. Planning is now underway for the regional sitting of Parliament in Mackay from 24-26 May, 2011.

Eligibility

Initially, schools eligible to receive the subsidy to attend the Mackay sitting of Queensland Parliament were those state and non-state schools located 50 - 400kms of the city of Mackay (including schools north to Bowen, south to St Lawrence and west to Emerald).

Funding has now been approved for schools which are less than 50 kms away from the Mackay Entertainment Centre.

The subsidy is available for students in Years 4 - 12 to attend.

Payment details

Payment timelines will depend on the timing of Parliament sitting and the collation of data from schools for grants.

Allocation of funds

Funds will be allocated per student as follows:

Funds will be allocated on a first in, first served basis until total subsidy funds are exhausted.

To apply for the subsidy, complete the application form Microsoft® Word document 417k and email to Principal Advisor Regional Services.
