To assist schools to fund self managed small security upgrade projects to enhance physical/electronic security of school facilities.
Funds are to be spent on approved small schools upgrade project.
Schools will pay contractors direct and will be refunded the costs through the GAPS process. The SSP will only fund security related projects i.e. Security Screens, alarm system additions etc.
There are no formal acquittals for this funding; however schools are required to provide School Security Program (SSP) with paid invoices. The invoice is to include the description of the work undertaken.

Cash grant to school.
Payments are made as determined by SSP team throughout the year.
Projects and schools will be identified by DET Schools Security Advisors (SSA). Schools will be identified by past history of damage and other illegal activity.
10 — 20 schools will receive funding each year. Value of each project will be between $5 000 and $10 000.
SSA will assist schools to identify areas for security enhancement. Schools will obtain quotes for work and determine successful contractor.
