The Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools are presented annually to Queensland state schools in recognition of significant improvements to student learning outcomes through excellent teaching practice.
The awards are aimed to assist in further developing the winning school's program through a range of strategies including study leave, research, professional development, resources, or publication and distribution.
Awards received are to support the successful teachers and principals to undertake research or professional learnings in a relevant field. This includes funding activities such as conference attendance, travel, accommodation and staff replacement.

Participation is open to all Queensland state schools and employees.
School programs that have previously won a Showcase Awards state award cannot submit the same program again.
Regional award winner - $1,000
Regional commendation - $500
State Finalist - $7,500
State award winner - $30,000 ($15,000 each for the Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year award categories).
Awarded funds may be used to cover costs associated with travel, accommodation, staff replacement, professional development or any other support required to document and share their innovative leadership practice and investigate the area of identified need.
Payments are made soon after each phase of the awards program in approximately June, August and November each year.
Nominations may be submitted by schools, clusters of schools or Regional Directors who have identified school initiatives or educators in their region worthy of recognition.
