To assist schools with the transport of special education students to enhance student development through real-life experiences in the community, e.g. shopping, theatre, parks.
Special Schools with vehicles originally provided by Queensland Treasury under the Heavy Vehicle Replacement Program (HVRP) in 1994-1995.
A fixed annual budget of $75,000 is paid to a fixed list of schools with buses. Actual allocations are based on an historical division of funds which remains unchanged each year.
Registration is paid centrally by Infrastructure Services Branch (Fleet Management).
Schools do not need to apply for this funding. Funding is provided to eligible schools with approved buses.
