This is a state wide and regionalised service providing a range of specialised equipment available for trial with students with disabilities at school. Access to this service assists schools to plan for educational adjustments and to trial equipment to ensure suitability prior to purchase. The overarching purpose is to support access and participation to the curriculum, and to facilitate improved educational outcomes for students with disability.
Overview of the Dual Enrolment and Special Education Services (DOCX, 64KB) (DETE employees only)
All state schools and non state schools have access to loan an item of equipment for a student with a disability with Education Adjustment Program (EAP) verification for a specific period by completing a loan request form and submitting to a host school or regional office via a Department of Education and Training (DET) Advisory Visiting Teacher.
An annual fixed budget of $150,000 is distributed to regional offices and host schools. Allocations are determined by a sliding scale determined by relative size of student population in each region. Regional offices may distribute funds to a host school or administer the loan scheme centrally.
