English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)

Purpose

Funding is provided to selected schools for the provision of a chaplaincy/student welfare service.

Expenditure guidelines

State schools are required to engage a chaplain/student welfare worker through an Accredited Employing Authority that offers chaplaincy/student welfare services.

Funding can only be used for purposes that are directly related to the provision of a chaplaincy/student welfare service in the school for which funds are provided and the type of service the school was successful in receiving funding for (i.e. chaplaincy or student welfare service).

Schools will be expected to comply with any State or Commonwealth reporting requirements.

Duration of program

The funds have been allocated to the selected schools for the 2015 school year.

Form of assistance

State schools will be paid through GAPS. Non-state schools will be paid through their organisation (QCEC, ISQ). Bi-annual payments.

Allocation of funds

Commonwealth and State funds of up to $20,000 (or up to $24,000 in remote/very remote areas) per annum to each school prioritised for funding in 2015.
