The Literacy Enhancement Grant has two components:
The formula for the socioeconomic component is:
Allocation = school enrolment x SES Factor x per capita rate
(only enrolments from year 1 to 12 are used in the calculation)
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Component only applies to schools with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of 50% or more. Schools deemed eligible on the basis of the July census will be paid for whole of the following year. If an ineligible school reaches 50% on enrolment collections in February or July, they will be paid for that semester.
Allocation = number of students x per capita rate
Socioeconomic Component per capita = approximately $40 per semester
