Literacy Enhancement Grant (YNCL)

Purpose

This grant is provided to enhance literacy and numeracy initiatives within schools.

Expenditure guidelines

While no explicit guidelines are given, it is expected that the funds will be spent on literacy and numeracy initiatives and as a needs-based grant it will be the subject of reporting in the School's Annual Report.

Allocation of funds

The Literacy Enhancement Grant has two components:

The formula for the socioeconomic component is:
Allocation = school enrolment x SES Factor x per capita rate
(only enrolments from year 1 to 12 are used in the calculation)

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Component only applies to schools with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of 50% or more. Schools deemed eligible on the basis of the July census will be paid for whole of the following year. If an ineligible school reaches 50% on enrolment collections in February or July, they will be paid for that semester.
