Funds are provided to assist schools to facilitate on-the-job training opportunities of at least 20 days per year for VET in Schools' students.
Schools will be able to use their grants to increase the number of Years 11 and 12 VETiS students undertaking work placements.
Flexibility in local arrangements can be maintained, and schools can continue to decide what best suits their system, students and participating employers. Where efficiencies can be gained, schools are encouraged to form clusters and pool funding to employ a community broker of on-the-job training placements.
Schools do not have to acquit these funds in the school annual report process.
Completion date - 31 January 2010
The Australian Government will consult about the best way to deliver the initiative for 2010-2012.
