Refugee Program (YNSR)

Purpose

Refugee Program funding provides support to schools with refugee students, especially those with very complex learning, social and psychological needs.

Expenditure guidelines

Types of possible activities:

language tuition
homework assistance
counseling
interpreter services
job preparation
intensive teaching or teacher aide support
development of supporting educational materials (on-line) that can be used state-wide.

Suitable expenditure categories:

salaries - teachers, teacher aides, transition officers, bi-lingual officers
resources - on-line material.

Eligibility

Schools with refugee students may receive funds depending upon the regional distribution process.

Form of assistance

Formula-generated allocations - notional allocations to regions and subsequent region-advised grant disbursements to schools

Payment details

Allocation of funds

Regions are allocated funds based on an approved formula-driven model. Regions distribute these funds to schools based on identified need.
