National Solar Schools Program (YNCD)

Purpose

Funds are provided to install sustainable and other energy efficient measures within schools.

Expenditure guidelines

All schools have been registered with the (NSSP). When notified of available funds schools apply to the Department of Education and Training (DET) based on the project they wish to undertake. Any funding provided must be spent on the approved project according to the guidelines of the NSSP program. DET provides final approval of expenditure.

The funding will be associated with the cost centre YNCD.

Schools do not have to acquit these funds in the school annual report process but will be asked to provide separate financial acquittals of project expenses.

Duration of program

This is a seven year program commencing in 2008 and finishing in 2014.

All Queensland state education facilities including Environmental and Outdoor Education Centres

Cash grants to eligible schools

Payment details

Payment will be processed on an ongoing basis according to future funding agreements between DET and the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA).

Allocation of funds

The program is application based and grant amounts will be based on eligible funding available for the submitted project. Schools have the option of providing additional funding if required.

Funding of up to $60,000 per school is available.
