Funds are provided to install solar power systems, other energy efficient and sustainable measures within schools.
Funds are expended according to the National Partnership Agreement established for the National Solar Schools Program. Funds can only be expended on eligible projects identified in the National Solar Schools Guidelines and based on school applications.
An acquittal process is in place and was established in 2009 with the Capital Works Programming Unit. Data on school projects is captured prior to funds being allocated to schools through GAPS.
This is a five year program which commenced in 2008 and will conclude in June 2013.

State Schools including Outdoor and Environmental Education Centres (OEEC)
Approximately 700 schools including OEEC up until June 2013, with payments to be made each month based on project completion.

Commonwealth Funding
There is no cost centre " each school has a separate project created in SAP. Funding for 2011/12 is $8,796,971 an estimated funding for 2012/13 is $7,331,104.
The program is application based and grant amounts will be based on eligible funding available for the submitted project. Schools have the option of providing additional funding if required. Projects vary from $2000 to $50,000.
Funds for school projects are based on approved applications submitted by the school to the Commonwealth. School projects are administered by the State through a National partnership Agreement.
