Healthy Schools External Link

This Queensland Health website contains resources and links to many other useful websites relating to nutrition and physical activity.

Queensland Cancer Fund External Link

The Queensland Cancer Fund website provides information, policy guidelines and resources for students around skin cancer and sun safety. Information on the National SunSmart Schools Program is contained on the site.

School Health and Wellbeing Initiatives

This site outlines Education Queensland's health and wellbeing initiatives including Smart and Healthy Schools, Healthy Schools Vans, Interschool Team Sport and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Student Health and Wellbeing Curriculum Framework

This Education Queensland website provides a coordinated approach in which a range of health issues, including nutrition education and physical activity, can be addressed in the curriculum.

Sun Safety

Guidelines for addressing skin cancer and sun safety in secondary schools within Education Queensland's Student Health and Wellbeing Curriculum Framework. Links from this website lead to resources for students.

World Health Organisation School and Youth Health External Link

This website is an excellent source of information on health issues on a global scale. Addresses school health and youth health promotion in local, national, regional and global contexts.


Nutrition

Dietary Guidelines for Australians External Link

The site features Food for Health nutrition education material, pamphlets, nutritional guidelines for children & adolescents and posters.

Dietitian's Association of Australia External Link

The site contains student-friendly recipes, links, smart eating tips and up-to-date nutrition information. The Smart Eating For You section contains answers to nutrition-related FAQs.

Eat Well Be Active External Link

This Queensland Government website contains information, activities and tips on ways to be more active and make healthier eating choices to enhance health and wellbeing.

Fresh for Kids (Sydney Markets) External Link

Fresh for Kids contains fruit and vegetable information, games, recipes and links.

Fruit and Veg Program External Link

The Victorian Government 'Fruit and Veg Program' has lots of ideas on teaching nutrition in the classroom (including recipe ideas for cooking in class), and promotes a whole of school approach to nutrition education.

Go for 2 & 5 (Fruit & Vegetable website) External Link

A government sponsored program promoting fruit and vegetable consumption, including recipes, pamphlets, posters and information on the media campaign.

Healthy Kids External Link

This NSW Health site features a schools section, with teaching resources and ideas around nutrition education.

Kids GP External Link

Kids GP website contains nutrition and physical activity ideas and posters.

National Heart Foundation External Link

The National Heart Foundation is a trusted source of heart health information. This website provides information on the Jump Rope for Heart program, teacher resources, a kids section, and a manual for outside school hours care.

Nutrition Australia External Link

The site contains fact sheets, recipes, suggested nutrition education materials (including a link to SNAC with nutrition resource reviews available on-line), links to other nutrition sites and tips for parents.

Queensland Kids Fresh Network External Link ( QKFN)

QKFN members can access brochures and the Fresh for Kids program (including posters and the Apples Ain't Apples school presentation). Registration to QKFN is free for schools.

Smart Choices: Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools

This site contains information about the strategy, with additional resources such as a toolkit for implementing the strategy, fact sheets, frequently asked questions, posters, and a PowerPoint presentation for school communities.

Australian Council for Health, Physical Education & Recreation (ACHPER) External Link

ACHPER provides information on physical activity programs and activities; health and physical education resources and teacher professional development opportunities/conference details.

Australian Physical Activity Guidelines External Link

The Department of Health and Ageing site provides research, brochures and posters around the area of physical activity.

The site provides information on a range of sports, resources and links, teacher pages and has a section of traditional Indigenous games.
