Health Issue Information and Guidelines

The following health issues have been identified as priority areas as they play a significant role in determining the health status of our population.

These health issues, and others deemed applicable to individual school contexts, provide relevant contexts through which essential knowledge, skills, attitudes and values can be developed.

Priority health issues include:

  1. Nutrition and Physical Activity
  2. Skin Cancer and Sun Safety
  3. Mental Health (including suicide prevention)
  4. Drug Education
  5. Road Safety
  6. Sexual Health (including HIV/AIDS and Hep C)

Each section above provides guidelines for addressing specific health issues as part of the Student Health and Wellbeing curriculum.

This section will be further expanded to provide an outline of developmentally appropriate content for each health issue across the phases of learning.
