Leadership

Strong leadership in our schools is an important element for ensuring success for all students and ensuring teaching and learning are most effective.

The department has a number of initiatives operating within its schools that focus on the leadership of principals and teachers to enhance the teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school students.

Indigenous Leadership Institute

The Indigenous Education Leadership Institute External Link is the result of an innovative partnership between the department and the Queensland University of Technology that aims to nurture and develop stronger, smarter Indigenous leadership in communities.

Dare to Lead

The Dare to Lead project External Link aims to improve Indigenous education outcomes, and believes that principals and school leaders are integral to meeting this goal. The Dare to Lead Coalition consists of 2895 school members in June 2008 and continues to grow.
