Indigenous Education Strategic Directions 2008-2011

The Indigenous Education Strategic Directions 2008-2011 plan sets in place a strong future direction for Indigenous education across all state schools.

The plan highlights the department's priority that 'every day, in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving.' It also reinforces the department's continued commitment to improving educational outcomes for Indigenous students.

The plan recognises the need to focus on achieving a measurable improvement in all Indigenous students' attendance, achievement and retention.

The department's strategic direction has five key drivers: challenging mindsets; high aspirations and engagement; effective involvement and engagement; accelerating and sustaining outcomes and leveraging resources.

The strategic plan was developed in consultation with key education stakeholders and sits within the broader strategic plans for the department and aligns with the Indigenous Learning and Arts Strategic Plan 2008-2011.
