Leadership

Young Indigenous people can gain leadership skills and experience that will equip them to take on leadership roles within their own communities.

Why is leadership important? People need leadership because it sets an example for others to follow and it gives people an idea what to do with their life and help better the lives of people in their own community.

What makes a leader?

Leadership skills:

• Are an important part of working with people who have a common goal or project.
• Is required when it helps a team of people working together or playing together stay together and work well with each other to sort out common problems by finding and agreeing on solutions.
• Involves leading by example which helps encourage and guide people to give something of themselves to a goal or project that leads to a successful outcome.

Students who take steps towards furthering:

• their education
• careers and
• their own work futures

will be seen as leaders of their generation.
