What is the MIS?

EdNet replaced the Connect-ED project on 30 June 2003. One component of this project is the provision of a Managed Internet Service ( MIS) to all state schools.

The MIS provides security, storage and predictable Internet costs as well as:

content-filtered Internet access for staff and students
virus-filtered email for staff and students
school website hosting
local call phone access to a Service Centre
personal website hosting for staff and students

Future improvements will:

reduce the number of login names and passwords required
increase remote access for students and staff
allow parents to access certain information on school networks.

Partnering Education Queensland in the EdNet project are:

WebCentral, the managers of the MIS
IMS Service Centre
MCI, who provide access to the Internet
Telstra, SPT and Optus who provide the carriage services.
