Upgrading your school's bandwidth

Some schools have taken the proactive step of upgrading their bandwidth.

If you are experiencing slow connection speeds, it may not be due to bandwidth. It could be due to a number of other issues involving content filtering and proxy platforms.

If you are a principal and are thinking of upgrading your school's bandwidth, talk with your Regional Technology Manager and check your school's bandwidth availability through a series of reports available through the MIS portal. To find out how, view the instruction for principals (new window) 142k Adobe PDF document.

These reports can reveal your school's current bandwidth use during peak and non peak periods. If available bandwidth is low, you might like to upgrade. Advice on upgrading is available from the Smart Classrooms website.

Below is an example of the type of information available in these reports.

This graph shows the bandwidth used (and available) at a school, at specific times of a typical day. Here, the school is using more than 80 per cent of its bandwidth at around 11am.
