Internet connectivity: a typical day

Internet connectivity speeds peak and trough at specific times in any given day.

Connectivity is fastest before 9am and after 3pm. When fewer staff and students use the Internet, speeds improve. When use increases, speeds reduce.

Below is a snapshot of a typical day's Internet use for the entire department, showing the peak period of 9am to 3pm.

The department is one of the biggest users of the Internet in Queensland.

In August 2009, students and staff alike downloaded the equivalent of 13.4TB of information. This is equivalent to:
