Web and Internet Access Service

The Web and Internet Access Service (WIAS) provides state schools with a value-for-money and comprehensive managed Internet service (MIS), including:

WIAS is managed and funded centrally. Schools pay an annual WIAS contribution to help fund the overall cost of providing WIAS services. The contribution is deducted from each school 's ICT Annual Grant, which is paid in December each year, before the grant is deposited into school accounts. The contribution deducted from the December 2007 grant covers the period from July 2007 to June 2008.

Spam mail is electronic junk mail and it is becoming more prevalent throughout the world. Your WIAS contribution is helping protect your school from receiving Spam mail.

WIAS blocks 50 000 computer viruses in October 2007

Computer viruses are a constant source of concern. They have the potential to cause extensive disruption that interferes with student learning activities and diverts the attention of staff as they restore systems and overcome virus attacks. Your WIAS contribution is helping fund anti-virus software that works.
