On-line registration opens for individual readers including home educated students

Key Responsibilities

Student

  • Read at least 20 books between 11 May and 21 August 2009.
  • Fill in the Reading Record Form by rating each completed book and filling in the title and author of the book.
  • Have fun!

Teacher

  • Enter the participating student details if required by the Premier's Reading Challenge School Coordinator.
  • Distribute Reading Record Forms to students.
  • Assist students in selecting suitable books to be read in the Challenge.
  • Sign the Reading Record Forms if the books are read in class.
  • Collect the Reading Record Forms at the end of the Challenge and return to the School Coordinator.

Premier's Reading Challenge School Coordinator

  • Be the point of contact between the school and the Department of Education and Training.
  • Register the school and its students who are participating in the Challenge.
  • Download and read a copy of the guidelines.
  • Distribute Reading Record Forms to class teachers.
  • Collect the Reading Record Forms and sign the Reading Record Forms and close your schools' participation on-line.

Principal

  • Send a letter to parents and guardians about their child's participation in the Challenge.
  • Ensure all requirements of the Premier's Reading Challenge have been met by the students.

Parent/carer

Parent/carer of Individual readers

  • Register participant on-line or through the Home Education Unit.
  • Assist students in selecting suitable books to be read in the Challenge.
  • Fill in details on the Reading Record Forms as books are read at home.
  • At the completion of the Challenge, send the completed Reading Record Form and Individual Record Form found at the back of the Registration Kit to the Premier's Reading Challenge Database Management Team at PO Box 3, Kelvin Grove QLD 4059.
  • Encourage students to take up the Challenge and assist them with their reading.
