Terms and Conditions of Entry
In these terms and conditions 'the Department' means the State of Queensland acting through the Department of Education and Training.
- Information on how to enter the Challenge, forms part of these Terms and Conditions of Entry into the Premier's Reading Challenge ('the Challenge' or 'PRC'). Submission of an entry will be considered acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- Only entries completed in accordance with these terms and conditions will be accepted.
- The Challenge is open for children in Prep to Year 7 in Queensland state and non-state schools and to students who are home-educated in Queensland.
- The Challenge period is from 11 May to 21 August 2009. Registration for the Challenge opens on Friday 24 April 2009 and must be completed before 29 May 2009.
- All students wishing to participate in the Challenge who are attending Queensland state and non-state schools are encouraged to register through their school as arranged by the PRC School Coordinator.
- Students' participating in the Challenge through their school must submit their completed Reading Record Forms to the class teacher or PRC School Coordinator before 18 September 2009.
- Only children who meet the Challenge of reading or experiencing 20 books will receive a participation certificate signed by the Premier.
- The PRC School Coordinator must collect Reading Record Forms by 18 September 2009 to verify that they have been correctly completed.
- The PRC School Coordinator is responsible for signing off the students' and schools completion of the Challenge via the online authorisation process by 18 September 2009.
- Schools or students who do not finalise their participation in the Challenge by Friday 18 September 2009, may not receive a certificate of achievement.
- A student, whose school is not participating in the Challenge, may register as an individual reader through the Challenge website. Registration must be completed by a parent or guardian.
- Home-educated students may register through the Challenge website or via the Home Education Unit, Department of Education and Training by phoning 07 3405 3915.
- Participants registered as an individual reader or home-educated student must send their completed Reading Record Forms signed by a parent/guardian to the PRC Database Management Team at PO Box 3, Kelvin Grove, QLD, 4059 by 18 September 2009.
- Once all certificates of achievement have been received, the school coodinator may file or destroy Reading Record Forms at their own discretion.
- It is the students' responsibility to ensure that the details are correct at the time of entry.
- All entries become the property of the Department. No responsibility is taken for late, lost or misdirected entries.
- Each child/student who reaches the challenge of reading or experiencing 20 books will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Premier. Only one certificate per student will be issued regardless of the number of Reading Record Forms completed. All certificates will be sent to the students' schools or, in the case of home-educated students or individual participants, to the address stated on the online registration form.
- The prizes which are on offer will be rewarded to schools who receive 100% participation in the Challenge. All prizes will be given through a lucky draw. The prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable.
- The prizes will be awarded to the first valid entries selected at random by the Department of Education and Training, Level 14, 30 Mary Street, Brisbane. The draw will be final. No correspondence will be entered into. The date for the random prize draws is to be advised.
- Although every effort will be made to ensure prizes and certificates are sent to the address stated on the registration form, the Department takes no responsibility for lost or misdirected items not received by students.
- As part of the promotion for the Challenge, some schools and students may be invited to feature in newspaper stories.
- The Department will not be responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any network or lines, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, traffic congestion on the Internet, etc. including, but not limited to, any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in this Challenge.
- If for any reason this Challenge is unable to run as planned, including but not limited to infection by computer virus, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Department, the Department may at its sole discretion cancel, suspend or modify the Challenge.
- The Department will not be responsible for any failure by sponsors to fulfil obligations to donate prizes as previously agreed.
- The Challenge may be withdrawn at any time without notice.
