Certificate of Digital Practice

The Certificate of Digital Practice is awarded to education support staff in recognition of how their digital practice enhances student learning experiences.

Engaging with the Digital Practice Guide:

  • encourages professional dialogue between education support staff and teachers
  • provides opportunities for recognition of prior learning with Education Support qualifications
  • contributes to developing performance plans and career progression.

To indicate interest in participating in the Digital Practice Guide and to lodge a request for accreditation, DETE employees can access more information by visiting the ICT Service Catalogue.

Follow these steps to attain your Certificate of Digital Practice:

Step 1: Discussion - have a conversation with your school sponsor to develop a plan to engage with the guide individually or in a small group and register your participation (DETE employees only).

Step 2: Collection - gather evidence that demonstrates your understanding of the guide indicators in your current work context as you support students working digitally

Step 3: Reflection - together with your sponsor/colleagues review your digital collection and identify how this evidence relates to your education support role

Step 4: Accreditation - identify opportunities for further professional learning (this may be identified in your developing performance plan). Your sponsor needs to make a request for a certificate (DETE employees only) to be issued by completing a form on the Digital Practice Guide teamsite.

Who can accredit a Certificate of Digital Practice?

A principal, their delegate or a school sponsor can review the digital collection evidence for the award of a Certificate of Digital Practice.

You will receive your certificate in an email from the department. Your principal and sponsor will also receive an email acknowledging your accreditation with the Certificate of Digital Practice.

Renew

Each Certificate of Digital Practice is current for three years from its date of issue.

This three year period allows you time to continue to gather evidence through your digital work practice and regularly reflect on the guide indicators in alignment with your continued professional development plan.

Following a review conversation with your school sponsor you can request to renew your certificate.
