National Secondary School Computer Fund
What it is?
The National Secondary School Computer Fund (NSSCF) is the major funding element of the Australian Government's Digital Education Revolution (DER). It is assisting with the provision of new computers and other information and communication technologies (ICT) equipment for students in Years 9 to 12.
The aim of the NSSCF is to continue working with schools in managing an ongoing computer to student ratio of 1-to-1 for students in Years 9 to 12. The Queensland Department of Education, Training and Employment worked in partnership with the Australian Government and successfully achieved a 1-to-1 target for students in Years 9 to 12 by 31 December 2011.
How does this affect state high schools?
By the end of 2011, more than 110,000 computers were installed in Queensland state schools as part of the NSSCF program.
Queensland state schools were invited to participate in a bulk purchase of a 3G-enabled notebooks for both the third and fourth NSSCF rounds in 2011 and 2013.
The department has created a range of easy-to-read documents to support the chosen devices for rounds three and four, for both parents and students. These documents cover everything from an overview of the program, advice about how to care for the laptop computers and how to complete some common technical procedures. The majority of documents only apply to schools that have opted for the device under the bulk purchase arrangement.
Many schools are already experiencing the benefits of the NSSCF. Some of the benefits being realised have been shared in the following podcasts:
- Oakey State High School
- Murgon State High School
- Woodbridge State High School
- Alexandra Hills State High School
- Wynnum State High School
To view interactive documents below, you will require the Flash to be installed on your computer. If you don't already have this program, you may download the latest versions from the Adobe website.

Infrastructure to support the NSSCF devices in Queensland state schools were coordinated by the NSSCF Infrastructure Project Manager in coordination with NSSCF coordinators in each region. This infrastructure is now being extensively utilised to provision connectivity of NSSCF devices and ensure improved learning outcomes for students.
