Warranty repairs: the process
For PC laptops
Once a PC laptop problem has been assessed as a warranty issue, the supplier will advise if your TAFE institute is eligible for onsite repairs, or if the device needs to be returned to the supplier's workshop.
The supplier will advise your TAFE institute on the date and time that the faulty laptop will be repaired onsite or collected for off-site repairs.
TAFE institutes must have the faulty laptop ready for collection at the date and time advised by the PC laptop vendor.
For Apple MacBooks
Apple will provide on-site repair in major population centres. Your laptop service provider will advise you if your laptop must be returned to the supplier.
If off-site repairs are necessary, Apple will organise a courier to collect the laptop. TAFE institutes should have the faulty laptop ready for collection at the date and time advised by the Apple vendor.
When sending an Apple laptop for off-site repairs TAFE institutes should:
- backup all personal data, files and folders saved to the laptop
- where possible, use the original box and packaging for shipping
- make a photocopy of the shipping form and fill out the details provided by the Service Provider's staff. Attach this to the outside of the box.
This process will vary if your institute wishes to use an external accredited authorised vendor or supplier.
