Returning laptops

If teachers at your school have changed positions or their working hours have reduced below 0.4 FTE, they may no longer be entitled to a Computers for Teachers laptop.

When this happens, they need to return their laptop to you and you need to notify the Computers for Teachers team. The team will reallocate the returned laptop to another eligible teacher.

Once a teacher has returned a laptop, follow these steps.

  1. Carry out a full restore process to take the laptop back to an 'out of the box' state, which makes it ready for reallocation.
  2. End the SiMS loan agreement for the teacher who returned the laptop. It is important that you keep all documentation and records on file for future audit compliance.
  3. Complete the laptop return form (DOC, 394k) to ensure the laptop and all accessories are returned in a satisfactory and serviceable condition. If the laptop and/or accessories are not in a good condition, repairs must be undertaken. Arrange this by contacting the Service Centre on 1800 680 445.
