Laptop image

All Computers for Teachers laptops come with an optimised MOE image.

This ensures the laptops are ready to connect to the Department of Education, Training and Employment IT network.

It is important that schools do not re-image laptops with the standard MOE image before assigning them to teachers.

Doing so will result in decreased laptop performance and will remove essential recovery software. Teachers will also find they won't be able connect to a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Re-imaging a laptop is time-consuming and unnecessary.

Annual inspections

The details of your school's Computers for Teachers laptop fleet are given to the department's asset accounting unit for entry into the Central Office SAP Asset Register.

This ensures they are included in the stocktake report produced and distributed to your school every September/October, in line with the annual stocktaking program.

As outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (PDF, 488k), you must inspect your school's Computers for Teachers laptop fleet every year for the annual stocktake.

This includes conducting a visual check of every laptop and their accessories. It is also important to speak with your teachers to ensure their laptops are functioning properly.
