Process to repair or replace a laptop damaged in a fire or natural disaster

If your laptop is damaged in a fire or natural disaster, it is important that you follow the below process to ensure you get your machine repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

Steps to repair or replace a laptop damaged in a fire or natural disaster.
Step 1 Complete the EQ38 Resource Replacement Scheme form.
Step 2 Fax the EQ38 Resource Replacement Scheme form to the Resource Replacement Scheme team on (07) 3237 1135 and the Computers for Teachers team on (07) 3421 6441.
Step 3 Call the Service Centre on 1800 680 445 to log a non-warranty job.
Step 4 The laptop will need to be assessed by the service agent. The Computers for Teachers team will decide if the laptop is to be repaired or replaced.

Laptop to be repaired:

If it is decided by the Computers for Teachers agent that your laptop is able to be repaired, please follow the steps below:

  • The school will be receive a quote from the service agent to complete the repair.
  • A copy of the quote is to be forwarded to the Resource Replacement Scheme on 07 3237 1135
  • If an Apple Macbook the school will need to raise a purchase order and pay for the repairs
  • If an HP laptop the school will need to raise a purchase order and fax the purchase order to the Computers for Teachers team. The school will need to pay or the repairs when completed.
  • If a Dell laptop the school will need to email confirmation of a debit, to the Computers for Teachers team

Laptop to be replaced:

If it is decided by the Computers for Teachers team that the damage to your laptop is too severe for repair, please follow the steps below:

  • The Computers for Teachers team will order a replacement laptop and inform the school of the cost.
  • The school will email confirmation of the debit for the replacement.
  • The replacement laptop will be delivered to the school.
