Additional MIS Services
Request a change to the MIS for your school, staff or students through the new Service Centre Online (SCO). Any school staff member can request the following items:
For users
- Request to change MIS identification
MIS IDs are populated from the first letter of your first name, and the first four letters of your surname, and sometimes this can generate an inappropriate string of letters. In this situation, staff or students can nominate their MIS ID to be changed by submitting a form in SCO called 'Request to Change MIS ID'. Please note this is not to be used when a person changes their name, such as after marriage.
- Request to nominate or change MIS administrator
Schools can only have one MIS admin. For contingency, it is a great idea to have your MIS admin train other key staff and delegate them some admin tasks to assist with this role. More info
For schools
- Request increase in email quota for my school
Staff and students are provided a default amount of email quota based on enrolment numbers. Schools can purchase a permanent increase in addition to this default quota to distribute to high-volume email users. More info
- Request increase in web quota for my school
The current allocation of school web quota is based on day eight enrolment numbers. Schools can purchase a permanent increase to distribute towards their school and/or staff and student personal websites. More info
- Request to create, change or delete a special purpose website
A special purpose website is often requested by groups of schools wanting to start a joint venture (such as a cluster sports website), and means:- an 'entry' will be created in the MIS so they can have a website and MIS Mailing Groups (admin@, the.principal@ etc)
- a fee will be charged to one of the requesting schools
- the special purpose website will be registered with a special centrecode (5-characters starting with 'x').
- Request to change the domain name of an existing school/centres
There was previously a limit on the length of a school's domain name which meant abbreviations were common. Now the restriction has been lifted, so schools such as Wellington Point State School can change their domain name from wellpoinss.eq.edu.au to wellingtonpointss.eq.edu.au. Note that this will change your school website, and all your MIS Mailing Groups (such as the.princpal@newdomain.eq.edu.au).
- Request for a split campus of an existing school
Sometimes schools will open a campus in another location that is still associated with the main school. This process means:- a new internet connection/network is being configured
- the new split campus will be visible in OnePortal Schools Directory and iRegister, meaning staff/students can be 'located' or 'enrolled' there
- an 'entry' will be created in the MIS so they can have a website and MIS Mailing Groups (admin@, the.principal@ etc)
- fees are organised through the WIAS form that is required to be submitted by the main school
- the Split Campus will be registered with a standard 4-digit centrecode.
- Request for a new school/centre
New schools and educational centres are regularly opened. This process involves:
- a new internet connection/network is being configured
- the new school/centre will be visible in OnePortal Schools Directory and iRegister, meaning staff/students can be 'located' or 'enrolled' there
- an 'entry' will be created in the MIS so they can have a website and MIS Mailing Groups (admin@, the.principal@ etc)
- fees are organised through the WIAS form that is required to be submitted by the main school
- the new school/centre will be registered with a standard 4-digit centrecode.
- Request school internet bandwidth upgrade or cutover
Schools can, in consultation with their regional technology manager, upgrade or cutover their bandwidth. Upgrade refers to changing the speed with the same data carriage (e.g. ADSL 512K to ADSL 1500K), and Cutover refers to changing from one data carriage to another (e.g. ADSL 1500K to GWIP+ 4MB).
