Smart Classrooms - Department of Education, Training and the Arts

School ICT Leadership Program

The School ICT Leadership program focuses on school leadership, professional practice and change management around making ICT integral to learning across schools and also highlights the potential of Smart Classrooms initiatives to revitalise schools.

A minimum of 15 principals and school leaders across each region have been invited to participate in a 12-month peer coaching and mentoring program that commenced in early 2006.

Regional Executive Directors and Executive Directors of Schools nominated to participate in the program principals and school leaders from their regions who have clearly demonstrated good progress around the area of ICT development and implementation.

The program will be coordinated by the Director of Implementation, Management Systems for Schools, and facilitated by trained educators including principals who have proven demonstrated innovative practice in ICT integration and change management as well as the capacity to influence their colleagues in their district and across the region

Participants will be expected to possess the capacity to significantly influence the uptake of strategic agendas across the region. Travel and accommodation costs will be funded.

ICT Leaders' Conference "Connecting Leaders - Driving Change"

The ICT Leaders' Conference "Connecting Leaders - Driving Change" on the Gold Coast from 26 to 28 April 2006 was the first in a series of professional development opportunities linked to the School ICT Leadership Program.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for delegates to network with others who are successfully integrating ICT into learning.

Presenters included peers leading the way in ICT innovation in Queensland and Victoria as well as industry and technical experts, with the main focus on providing practical examples.

Delegates also found out more information and provide feedback on the Management Systems for Schools project: a Smart Classrooms System Initiative aimed at achieving enhanced student learning through a single student record.
