Digital Pedagogy
Licence

Meet Philip Van Heusden
A music and ICT teacher, Philip Van Heusden has developed a software-based recording studio at his school to help deliver vocational education and training subjects. At the studio, Philip and his students design music programs that promote expression for people with an impairment or disability.

'My learning journey has almost been like a change in life pathways for me. I have a previous career in audio engineering, so you could say that in teaching I've found a way of imparting all the learnings of my younger years to the next generation.'

Digital Pedagogy Licence: renew

Each Digital Pedagogy Licence is current for three years from its date of issue.

If your licence is about to expire, what needs to be done?

You can either renew your licence or be adventurous and progress further by working towards the Digital Pedagogy Licence Advanced.

There are four key stages to renewing your licence.

Stage 1: Reflect on the past three years

Reflect on your teaching practice. Consider how your professional values, relationships, knowledge and practice have impacted on your students and their learning during the past three years of you embracing digital pedagogy.
You might like to ask yourself:

Publish your reflection within the digital portfolio you constructed three years ago. You may wish to use the Digital Pedagogy Licence focus areas (Professional Values, Professional Relationships, Professional Knowledge and Professional Practice) to organise your reflection.

Stage 2: Plan the future

Consider how you will continue to strengthen your digital pedagogy practice in the next three years.
Make sure you formulate:

Stage 3: Talk with your principal or curriculum leader

Share your reflection and your plan for the future with your principal or curriculum leader.

You may like to invite a Smart Classrooms mentor or Smart Classrooms coordinator to your meeting, as an advocate for digital pedagogy. If you need help, contact your Regional Technology Manager.

While you are talking with your principal or curriculum leader, request a statement of support outlining that your published reflection represents your current pedagogy. Publish this statement of support in your digital portfolio.

Stage 4: Complete the online renewal record

When you have worked through the preceding steps, complete the online Digital Pedagogy Licence renewal record external page (will open in a new window).
