Refreshed framework keeps teachers up-to-speed
A refreshed Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework has been launched.
The update keeps the framework abreast of changes in teacher and school needs, and worldwide advances in digital pedagogy.
The changes
The main change is with naming.
The ICT Pedagogical Licence is now called the Digital Pedagogy Licence and the ICT Pedagogical Licence Advanced is now the Digital Pedagogy Licence Advanced.
These changes reflect the growing understanding of, and desire to embrace, digital pedagogy in Queensland.
Updates to the certificate
Following requests from teachers and school leaders, the ICT Certificate now focuses on the use of ICT within a learning context rather than ICT skill development.
Updates to its indicators reflect this.
Teachers no longer construct digital portfolios for certificate-level accreditation.
Instead, they develop a unit plan or program of work plus a reflective statement in a format agreed to by their schools.
Updates to the licence and advanced licence
The licence indicators and advanced licence indicators have been updated to reflect teachers' growing understanding of digital pedagogy and the needs of digital age students.
There are minor changes to the accreditation process for the licence.
Chiefly, there are no fixed dates for digital portfolio reviews. Teachers can request portfolio reviews at any time, when they are ready.
Teachers are now mentored on their journeys toward licence-level accreditation.
This means they can share their journeys with others who have already been there, allowing them to benefit from their mentors' advice.
Among other things, teachers and mentors will work together to decide whether digital portfolios are ready for review.
There are no changes to advanced licence accreditation.
