Intel Teach Program: Thinking with Technology Course
Who is it for?
If you are seeking ICT Certificate accreditation, consider undertaking the Intel Teach Program Thinking with Technology Course.
The course is a pathway to certificate-level accreditation.
The need to show that you understand the ICT Certificate indicators is built into the course. This means you do not need to follow the online advice on seeking ICT Certificate accreditation.
What is it?
The course offers teachers a chance to consider how digital pedagogy can enhance students' higher-order thinking skills.
It helps teachers explore online thinking tools
that students can use to visually represent their understanding of complex and interconnected issues.
The course supports good teaching practices that can be immediately implemented in classrooms and has been tailored to the needs of Queensland state school teachers.
What's in it for me?
When you complete this course, you will gain the ICT Certificate and the international Intel Thinking with Technology qualification.
By undertaking the course, you will develop a complete program of work showing that you understand the ICT Certificate indicators. The program of work will involve:
- the Blooms Taxonomy, Habits of Minds and Dimensions of Learning models
- curriculum framing questions to support thinking
- student-centred assessment
- online thinking tools such as the Visual Ranking Tool, Seeing Reason Tool and Showing Evidence Tool.
How do I access it?
There are two ways of accessing this course.
The first is by becoming one of the course's Master Trainers.
To become a Master Trainer, you will need to attend a four- to five-day training session in Brisbane.
Your schools will need to meet transport, accommodation and TRS costs for your attendance. Then, you will need to return to your school to on-train and mentor 10 teachers in the course, within a five-month period.
Calls for applications for teachers to become Master Trainers will be made throughout the year.
The second way of accessing this course is to find a Master Trainer and undertake the course through them.
If you are interested in either pathway, contact the Smart Classrooms Professional Development Framework team on (07) 3421 6505 or through email.
